The Opportunity

Joe Van Gogh had two websites—one for retailers, one for wholesalers, both in Shopify. Products had to be entered and updated twice to reflect different pricing and terms, and the platform required complex workarounds to accommodate JVG’s way of doing things. They were also experiencing slow load times; problems getting adequate customer support when they needed it; and redundant internal processes.

With a rebranding underway, JVG saw the perfect opportunity to make their web world better. They engaged AndiSites to convert their current separate websites to a single WordPress WooCommerce site with a wholesale component that automatically adjusts pricing, taxes, and shipping terms based on information stored with a customer’s login profile. And knowing AndiSites’ experience with customer support and business processes, they also used the opportunity to make overall improvements on- and off-line so that things could just be better all around.

“AndiSites was our perfect match when we decided to rebrand and rebuild the Joe Van Gogh website. They had no easy task, as we were combining our retail and wholesale website into one while also rebranding everything! This meant a lot of moving pieces and logistics for our ecommerce shop.

Throughout the whole process AndiSites was a pleasure to work with, always there to talk through our options and flexible when we needed to change direction. They listened and asked questions to understand who we are as a company, and they poured that into our website.

We are so thrilled with how the website turned out!”

The Solution

AndiSites got to know more than just the new JVG brand—we did a deep dive into their processes, pricing structures, customer profiles, bricks-and-mortar stores, and philosophies. We visited their roastery to get a feel for things, and we worked with their team to better understand how they serve their customers on- and off-line. Then we took all of that info, along with a boatload of historical purchase data, and created a new WordPress website with whimsical homepage animations and a distinct personality. By leveraging AndiSites’ graphic design and storytelling skills, the new website tells JVG’s unique story and better reflects what makes them special.

The all-important ecommerce piece was built using the powerful WooCommerce platform with curated add-ons to achieve all of the “special” things that their online store needed to do. We created separate but integrated experiences for retailers versus wholesalers, and we made it easy for all customers to purchase products and subscriptions online. Customer profiles are created alongside login info so that customers can see past purchases, save payment information, and update preferences. And integrations with Klaviyo, Metorik, and other external analytics and marketing platforms ensure that JVG can properly see, analyze, and act on data in real time.

From an administrator perspective, WooCommerce makes it easier to add multiple prices and variations to products based on user profile, and beautifully designed non-shop pages can be edited using the intuitive WYSIWYG Elementor Pro page builder.
